Our hot water tank went down this morning and we were at a loss. I called Sargent's plumbing and Andrew Sargent took my call. He had Jeffrey Sargent come to our house in a very short matter of time. Jeffrey installed a new hot water tank and you could tell that he really takes pride in his workmanship. Totally satisfied with the quick response and a job well done. Follow up, I had a slight drain problem from the install but Sargent's plumbing responded immediately and took care of it. Great company, with great service.

We’ve used Sargent’s Plumbing twice and both times they were awesome! The first time was last Christmas Eve afternoon. Our half bath toilet was leaking. They were able to schedule us that day. Hayden arrived on time, assessed the situation, fixed it quickly and didn’t leave a mess. Just recently, the same toilet developed another problem. Called Sargent’s. Jeffrey arrived a little early (not a problem), listened to my concerns and made some adjustments hoping to correct the problem. Unfortunately, it didn’t. He told me it might not; that the toilet should be replaced. Doing that in a couple of days. Quoted a reasonable price for this replacement. He and Andrew have been very patient in answering my questions. Highly recommend!

We have had issues with our sewer backing up into the house for a long time. I was worried when I first called because Sargent’s charges by the hour but wait.. They helped unclog the drain so fast it will make your head spin! Super nice, honest, and much more than fair to say the least. Use Sargent’s once and you won’t let anyone else help with your plumbing. Our issue was a little flap that broke off to keep sewage from back flowing into the home. (Ironic isn’t it that this is exactly what this valve caused several times?!). We couldn’t be happier!

24/7 EMERGENCY Leak Detection

Waking up to a flooded floor or a water meter spinning out of control is an emergency. A sudden, massive leak requires immediate location and repair. Sargent’s Plumbing & Drain offers 24/7 emergency leak detection. Homeowners in Broken Arrow and nearby cities trust us to find the problem fast. We never charge extra for homeowner emergency or weekend service calls.

Leak Detection in Broken Arrow, OK

Leak detection is a specialized service focused on finding hidden water leaks. This process is non invasive, meaning we do not make unnecessary holes in your walls or floors. A leak can occur in any pipe, but the most damaging ones are hidden. They can be inside a wall, under your concrete slab foundation, or in the yard. Our service is designed to pinpoint the exact location of these leaks. This allows for a targeted repair. It minimizes property damage, saving you significant money on restoration. We use advanced technology to find what the naked eye cannot see.

There are many clear signs that you may have a hidden water leak. The most common is a suddenly high water bill. If your usage has not changed, but your bill doubled, you likely have a leak. You might also hear the sound of running water, even when all faucets are off. Visible signs include damp spots on walls, ceilings, or floors. You may notice warm spots on your floor, which indicates a hot water line leak. Other signs include a musty, moldy smell, low water pressure, or cracks forming in your foundation. Do not ignore these warning signs.

Our plumbers use a variety of high tech tools to find leaks. Our primary tool is an acoustic listening device. This highly sensitive microphone can hear the sound of water escaping a pipe. We can listen to your pipes, walls, and even your slab. This guides us to the source of the sound. For hot water leaks, we use thermal imaging cameras. These cameras show us temperature differences. A hot water leak will create a distinct warm signature in a wall or floor. We also use moisture meters and line tracers. This combination of tools allows us to be incredibly accurate.

The most serious type of hidden leak is a slab leak. This is a leak in a water pipe that is buried in or under your home’s concrete foundation. These leaks are particularly dangerous. They can erode the soil under your home, leading to foundation cracks and shifting. This can cause catastrophic structural damage. Finding a slab leak requires the most sensitive equipment. Our acoustic listeners can hear water movement through concrete. Our thermal cameras can see the heat spreading. Pinpointing the exact spot is critical. It is the difference between a small, targeted repair and foundation disaster.

Our leak detection process is systematic. First, we confirm a leak exists by checking your water meter. With all water off, if the meter’s dial is spinning, you have a leak. We will then isolate different parts of your plumbing system. We can shut off water to the house to see if the leak is inside or outside. Once we narrow it down, we deploy our advanced tools. We will scan the floors, walls, and ground. We follow the sounds and heat signatures. We will mark the precise location of the leak. Finally, we will discuss the best repair options with you.

Ignoring a hidden leak is never a good idea. The problem will not fix itself; it will only get worse. A small drip can waste thousands of gallons of water. This costs you money every single day. The water damage can be extensive. It rots the wood framing of your home. It creates a perfect environment for toxic black mold to grow. It can ruin drywall, flooring, and cabinets. If it is a slab leak, it can compromise the structural integrity of your entire house. The cost of a leak detection service is tiny compared to the cost of these potential repairs.

Choosing Sargent’s Plumbing & Drain is the smart choice. We are a locally owned business built on honesty and hard work. Our plumbers are licensed, insured, and highly trained in using this advanced equipment. We are dedicated to providing a 5 star service. We offer long term warranties on our repairs. We also provide discounts for veterans, teachers, and seniors. For emergencies, we are available 24/7. Homeowners in Broken Arrow never pay extra for emergency or weekend calls. We find your leak fast and provide a straightforward quote for the fix.

In addition to Leak Detection, we offer a full range of plumbing services for homes and businesses. Below is our services list offered by our plumbers:

What Makes a Great Leak Detection Service

A great leak detection service is precise and non destructive. It begins with a thorough consultation and a check of the water meter. The technician uses a variety of advanced tools, not just one. They can find leaks under concrete slabs and inside walls. They listen to the entire plumbing system. The service pinpoints the exact location, not just a general area. This precision minimizes the demolition needed for the repair. The plumber provides a clear explanation and a straightforward quote for the subsequent repair.

Most Common Leak Detection Questions

The idea of a hidden leak is stressful for any homeowner. We field many questions about how we find these leaks and what the signs are. Here are the most common questions we answer about leak detection in Broken Arrow.

A sudden, unexplained spike in your water bill is the number one sign of a hidden leak. Your water utility bills you for all water that passes through the meter, whether you use it or not. A single, persistent leak, even a small one, can waste thousands of gallons of water per month. This translates directly to a high bill. If your habits have not changed, you should not ignore this.

A common culprit is a leaking toilet. A toilet flapper that is not sealing properly can cause water to run constantly. This is often silent and can waste a huge amount of water. Other causes are dripping faucets or a leak in your irrigation system. The most serious cause is a hidden leak in a pipe. This could be in your wall, attic, or under your concrete slab.

You can do a quick check yourself. Make sure all faucets, toilets, and water using appliances are off. Go to your water meter and look at the low flow indicator, which is often a small red dial or triangle. If it is spinning, water is flowing somewhere, and you have a leak. Call Sargent’s Plumbing & Drain immediately. We can find the source of the leak and fix it.

A slab leak is a leak in a water supply line that runs below or within your home’s concrete foundation. This is one of the most serious plumbing problems a homeowner can face. The leaks can be in either the hot or cold water lines. Because they are buried, they can go undetected for a long time. They are a common problem in homes with older plumbing systems.

These leaks are incredibly destructive. The escaping water can erode the soil that supports your foundation. This can cause the slab to crack, shift, or settle. This is known as foundation failure and can cost tens of thousands of dollars to repair. The water can also seep up through the concrete, ruining your flooring. It creates a high humidity environment, which leads to mold growth.

Signs of a slab leak include a high water bill, the sound of running water, or new cracks in your floors or walls. You might also feel a hot spot on your floor, which indicates a hot water line is leaking. Our team has advanced acoustic and thermal tools to find the exact location of slab leaks. This allows us to make a precise repair without destroying your home.

We find hidden leaks using non invasive, non destructive methods. Our goal is to find the leak with zero or minimal damage to your home. We use advanced technology, not guesswork. Our most common tool is an acoustic listener. This is a highly amplified microphone that our plumber uses to listen to your pipes. Water escaping a pipe under pressure makes a distinct sound. Our tool can hear this sound through walls, floors, and concrete.

For hot water line leaks, we use a thermal imaging camera. This camera sees heat. It will show us the heat signature of the hot water as it spreads through your floor or wall. This allows us to see the leak’s location. We also use electronic moisture meters to confirm the presence of water in building materials.

By using these tools, we can pinpoint the leak’s exact location. Instead of tearing up your entire floor to search for the leak, we can often isolate it to a one or two foot area. This means the subsequent repair is much smaller, cleaner, and less expensive. This precision is the key to professional leak detection.

Strange noises in your walls, such as a hissing, dripping, or running sound, are often a clear sign of a water leak. This is especially true if you hear the noise when no water is being used. A hissing sound usually indicates a leak in a pressurized water supply line. The water is being forced out of a small crack or bad joint. A dripping sound might be a slower supply leak or a leak from a drain pipe in the wall.

These sounds should never be ignored. They are an audible warning that water is escaping. This water is soaking into your home’s wood framing, insulation, and drywall. This can lead to wood rot, structural damage, and mold growth. Even if you do not see a wet spot yet, the damage is happening behind the wall.

Our acoustic listening devices are designed to find these exact sounds. We can scan the wall and follow the noise to its loudest point. This tells us the precise location of the leak. We can then make a small, surgical opening in the drywall to access and repair the pipe. This prevents a small leak from turning into a major disaster.

A persistent musty or mildewy smell is a very strong indicator of a hidden water leak. This smell is produced by mold and mildew. Mold needs two things to grow: organic material (like wood or drywall) and moisture. If you smell it, but you cannot see any visible mold, it almost certainly means you have a leak in a hidden area. This could be inside a wall, under a cabinet, or beneath your flooring.

The leak may be very slow. It might not be enough water to create a puddle, but it is enough to keep the area constantly damp. This is a very unhealthy situation. Mold spores can cause respiratory problems, allergies, and other health issues. The moisture is also slowly rotting your home’s structure.

You should call us for a leak detection service. We can use our tools, like thermal cameras and moisture meters, to find the hidden dampness. A moisture meter, for example, can be pressed against a wall. It will tell us if the drywall is saturated, even if it looks and feels dry. We can trace the moisture to its source and find the leak.

A thermal imaging camera is one of our most valuable leak detection tools. This camera does not see visible light; it sees infrared heat energy. It displays this information as a picture, with different colors representing different temperatures. This allows us to see temperature differences that are invisible to the naked eye. This is extremely useful for finding hidden hot water leaks.

When a hot water pipe leaks inside a wall or under a floor, it heats up the surrounding materials. The thermal camera will show a distinct plume or hot spot on the surface. This creates a visual map of the leak. We can follow the heat signature directly to its source. This is incredibly fast and accurate.

Thermal imaging can also be used to find cold water leaks in some situations. A cold leak can create a cold spot, especially on a warm day. It is also useful for finding areas of hidden saturation. Wet materials often have a different temperature than dry materials. This technology allows us to find leaks with incredible precision without damaging your home.

Professional electronic leak detection is extremely accurate. When performed by a trained and experienced plumber, we can often pinpoint a leak to within a few inches. This accuracy is possible because we do not rely on just one tool. We use a combination of methods to confirm our findings. For example, we may first use a thermal camera to find a general hot spot. Then we use our acoustic listener to find the precise, loudest point of the leak within that spot.

This accuracy is the main benefit of the service. Without these tools, the only way to find a leak is to start making holes. This search and destroy method is destructive and expensive. It turns a small pipe repair into a large remodeling project. Our service is designed to avoid this.

The goal is to minimize damage. By pinpointing the leak, we can make a single, small opening. For a slab leak, this means we only need to open a small section of your floor. This saves you thousands of dollars in restoration costs. Our commitment to honesty means we invest in the best tools to do the job right.

This is a very common question. The answer depends on your specific homeowner’s insurance policy. In many cases, insurance policies will cover the cost of accessing the leak. This includes the leak detection service itself and the cost of opening the wall or slab. Many policies will also cover the cost of the water damage and restoration.

However, most standard policies will not pay for the plumbing repair itself. The insurance company’s view is that the pipe’s failure is a maintenance issue. They pay for the resulting damage from the failure, but not the failure itself. Every policy is different, so it is very important to read yours or call your agent.

Sargent’s Plumbing & Drain will provide you with a clear, detailed invoice for our services. This invoice will separate the cost of the leak detection from the cost of the repair. This itemized bill is exactly what your insurance company will need to process your claim. We are happy to provide any documentation you need to help with your claim.
