We have had Sargent’s out several times for various fixes and upgrades. They are well informed and do a great job laying out your options. They get the work done in a timely manner; they have good availability; and, their prices are on par with the market. We’ve also received recommendations for tradesman in other areas of home maintenance, which has helped us resolve issues outside the scope of plumbing.

Called Andrew for a leaking bathtub faucet. Sent him a video, and within an hour, he was there with the right part and had it fixed within 15 mins. Outstanding customer service and worth the price!
Our hot water tank went down this morning and we were at a loss. I called Sargent's plumbing and Andrew Sargent took my call. He had Jeffrey Sargent come to our house in a very short matter of time. Jeffrey installed a new hot water tank and you could tell that he really takes pride in his workmanship. Totally satisfied with the quick response and a job well done. Follow up, I had a slight drain problem from the install but Sargent's plumbing responded immediately and took care of it. Great company, with great service.
Sargents plumbing did a great job for us! They returned our service call immediately on a Sunday and came out to our home the following day at the exact time they said they would. The clogged drain was cleared immediately!!! Sargents plumbing staff is very professional and informative. Great service!!
I had the best experience with Sargent’s Plumbing & Drain I’ve ever had with someone in my home, beyond plumbing only. They came when they said they would. Came back to address concerns and make sure everything was right. Took care of our house and cleaned up after themselves. Andrew provided expertise as a plumber and exceptional customer service. Highly recommended!
Rather than charge for a service call, the owner walked me through how to fix my garbage disposal. Wow! Guess who is now in my contacts should I ever need a plumber again.
On time, professional and very fair with prices. Definitely use them again!
Outstanding job, very fast getting the job done replacing my hot water tank and fixing my leak. Highly recommend!

Great job installing new toilet and vanity. Timely and fair pricing. Will definitely use again.
Best plumber I've ever used. His attention to detail is amazing. He cares about the job he is doing, no matter the size. Neat, doesn't leave a mess. Very personal service, nothing like the corporate plumbing companies out there.
They did a great job addressing all of our issues and did it within one hour, which saved us a good amount of money.
Sargent Plumbing got me taken care of with same day service. Jeffrey’s attitude was very pleasant and professional. Will be using them for all my plumbing needs in the future.
They were quick to respond on the weekend and very reasonable on pricing. Highly recommend them!
Very knowledgeable. Arrived within 30 minutes after speaking with them.
Super awesome company! They were fast and super reasonably priced. We had an emergency water pipe bust and they were out same day without charging us an arm and a leg.
Andrew is very professional and fair priced and also makes an effort to connect and care for his customers. I had a pipe bust late one evening and not only did he drop what he was doing to get my home fixed up, he also gave me a more than a reasonable charge (didn’t hit me with a hefty emergency bill). I highly recommend Sargents plumbing for anything you need.
This is the best plumbing company i've ever used and I will be calling them for all of my future plumbing needs. Very professional, fairly priced, and great work. Highly recommend.
Did the job the same day the problem happened. Jeffrey did a great job fixing the problem. If you're looking for a reliable service, I highly recommend them.
Andrew is the best extremely knowledgeable and very helpful . I highly recommend !
Above and beyond on customer service! Fair quotes! Would recommend to anyone!
Bought a house a few months back that had plumbing issues we didn’t know where there. In a panic I searched the web for reputable companies and Sargent’s Plumbing and Drain came out within 30 mins, gave me a free quote and assured they would have it brand new. I can wholeheartedly endorse this amazing company led by a very respectable and knowledgeable young man. If you have ANY plumbing concerns, Sargents should be your first and only call!
We’ve used Sargent’s Plumbing twice and both times they were awesome! The first time was last Christmas Eve afternoon. Our half bath toilet was leaking. They were able to schedule us that day. Hayden arrived on time, assessed the situation, fixed it quickly and didn’t leave a mess. Just recently, the same toilet developed another problem. Called Sargent’s. Jeffrey arrived a little early (not a problem), listened to my concerns and made some adjustments hoping to correct the problem. Unfortunately, it didn’t. He told me it might not; that the toilet should be replaced. Doing that in a couple of days. Quoted a reasonable price for this replacement. He and Andrew have been very patient in answering my questions. Highly recommend!
We have had issues with our sewer backing up into the house for a long time. I was worried when I first called because Sargent’s charges by the hour but wait.. They helped unclog the drain so fast it will make your head spin! Super nice, honest, and much more than fair to say the least. Use Sargent’s once and you won’t let anyone else help with your plumbing. Our issue was a little flap that broke off to keep sewage from back flowing into the home. (Ironic isn’t it that this is exactly what this valve caused several times?!). We couldn’t be happier!
Jeffery was a quick and efficient plumber. He fixed the problem and he did a great job. He has a friendly personality and a hard worker. They get the job done right the first time!
I had a sudden pipe leak from old copper pipes on a weekend. I found Sargents and they came out right away and started working on a fix. They lined up a restoration company that was on the job immediately with machines to dehumidify. I ended up having them re pipe my house and they worked on a Sunday until it was finished. I also had them install a new water heater. Everything was done promptly and professionally. I would highly recommend
They were prompt and very informative. I am female and was never spoken down to (asi have experienced with others). Friendly. I highly recommend
Had a wonderful experience with Sargent's Plumbing! Andrew was very professional, extremely knowledgeable and provided excellent communication throughout the whole project! Great pricing and got us back up and running from our gas leak issue very quickly! Will be using them again in the future!

Sump Pump Installation in Broken Arrow, OK
A sump pump installation is the process of creating a system to remove groundwater. This system prevents your basement or crawlspace from flooding. The installation involves digging a pit, or sump basin, in the lowest part of your basement. A perforated drain pipe system around your foundation, called a drain tile, collects water. This water flows into the basin. We then install a sump pump inside this basin. When the water in the basin reaches a certain level, a float switch activates the pump. The pump then pushes the water out of the basin. It is sent through a discharge pipe, safely away from your home.
There are two main types of sump pumps, and we install both. The most common type is a submersible pump. This unit is placed directly in the sump basin. The motor is sealed in a waterproof housing. This design is quiet, efficient, and long lasting. The other type is a pedestal pump. This pump has a long stand, and the motor sits up in the air, out of the water. A long intake pipe goes down into the basin. Pedestal pumps are generally less expensive, but they are louder and more visible. We almost always recommend a high quality submersible pump for best results.
A critical part of any installation is the battery backup system. A standard sump pump runs on your home’s electricity. This is a problem during a severe storm, which is exactly when power often goes out. A battery backup system is your insurance policy. It is a second, DC powered pump that sits in the basin next to your main pump. It is connected to a powerful deep cycle battery. If your power goes out, or if your primary pump fails, this backup pump will turn on automatically. This system is essential for true flood protection. We strongly recommend a backup pump for every installation.
The installation process is very thorough. If you do not have a basin, our team will carefully break the concrete floor. We will dig the pit and install a durable, pre fab basin. We ensure it is level and properly surrounded by gravel. We then install the pump, or pump system, inside. We run a dedicated PVC discharge pipe. This pipe must go up and out of your home. We drill a small, clean hole through your home’s rim joist. We run the pipe outside and ensure it discharges at least 10 feet away, on a downward slope. This prevents the water from just flowing back.
We also install check valves on the discharge line. A check valve is a one way valve. It allows water to be pumped out, but it prevents it from flowing back into the basin. This is a critical component. Without a check valve, the water in the vertical pipe would fall back into the pit. This would make your pump turn on and off constantly, which is called short cycling. This short cycling will burn out the pump’s motor very quickly. We use high quality, quiet check valves on all our installations.
The size of the pump matters. Sump pumps are rated by their horsepower (HP). A 1/3 HP pump is standard for most homes in Broken Arrow. It can handle a typical amount of groundwater. However, if your home is in an area with a high water table, you may need more power. A 1/2 HP or 3/4 HP pump provides a higher pumping capacity. It can move more gallons per minute (GPM). Our experienced plumbers will assess your home. We will check your soil, water table, and local rainfall data. We will then recommend the right size pump for your specific needs.
When you hire Sargent’s Plumbing & Drain, you get a professional, 5 star service. We are a locally owned company built on honesty. We provide free in person estimates for new installations. What Makes a Great Sump Pump Installation Service
A great sump pump installation service begins with a proper assessment. The plumber recommends the correct size pump for your home. They will not just sell you the most expensive one. The service includes installing a durable basin. They use rigid PVC for the discharge pipe, not a cheap flexible hose. A high quality check valve and a battery backup system are always recommended. The discharge line is routed outside, far from the foundation. The plumber tests the float switch and the backup pump. They leave the area clean and your basement protected.
Most Common Sump Pump Installation Questions
A sump pump is a key piece of waterproofing. Homeowners often have questions about how they work, why they need one, and what the options are. Here are the most common questions we answer about sump pump installation.
There are several clear signs that your home needs a sump pump. The most obvious sign is if you have ever had water in your basement or crawlspace. Any amount of water, from a damp floor to standing puddles, is a problem. This water comes from hydrostatic pressure. This is groundwater in the soil being pushed against your foundation. A sump pump is the solution to this pressure.
You should also look for efflorescence. This is a white, chalky powder that appears on your basement walls. This is the sign of moisture wicking through the concrete. It means you have a water problem, even if you do not see puddles. A musty, moldy smell is another clear indicator. This smell means there is enough moisture for mold and mildew to grow.
Even if your basement is finished, you can see signs. These include warped flooring, peeling paint, or damp carpets. If you live in an area with a high water table or in a low lying spot, a sump pump is a wise, proactive investment. It is far cheaper to prevent a flood than to clean one up.
A battery backup sump pump is a secondary pump. It is your home’s second line of defense against flooding. Your primary sump pump runs on AC electricity from your wall outlet. This is a problem because the biggest rainstorms are often a’companied by power outages. This is the moment you need your pump the most, and it is the moment it is most likely to fail.
A battery backup system solves this. It is a separate, 12 volt DC pump that sits in the basin. It is connected to a heavy duty, deep cycle marine battery. This system is smart. It constantly monitors the power. The moment your AC power cuts out, the backup system takes over. Its float switch will activate, and the DC pump will turn on.
This system also protects you if your primary pump fails for any reason. If the main pump breaks or its switch gets stuck, the water will keep rising. The backup pump’s float switch is set slightly higher. It will activate, saving your basement. A battery backup is a critical piece of a complete waterproofing system.
Submersible and pedestal are the two main types of sump pumps. A submersible pump is designed to be fully submerged in the water. The pump and motor are in a single, waterproof housing. This unit sits at the bottom of the sump basin. Its main advantages are that it is very quiet. It is also out of sight. Because it is cooled by the water, it is often more durable and efficient.
A pedestal pump is a two piece design. A long, vertical pedestal or column is attached to the basement floor. The motor sits on top of this pedestal, up in the open air. A long intake pipe extends down into the basin. The float switch is on a rod that runs alongside the column. The main advantages of a pedestal pump are its cost. They are generally less expensive. They are also easier to service, as the motor is exposed.
For most homeowners, we strongly recommend a submersible pump. They are much quieter and less of an obstruction. They are also more powerful. The submersible design is more modern and reliable. A pedestal pump is a good option, but a submersible pump is the better one.
The lifespan of a sump pump depends on its quality and how often it runs. A high quality, professional grade pump will last much longer than a cheap, plastic pump. On average, a good primary sump pump will last about 7 to 10 years. This is why it is so important to test your pump regularly. You do not want to find out it has failed during a storm.
A pump that runs constantly, as in a high water table area, will wear out faster. A pump that only runs a few times a year will last longer. The battery in your backup system also has a limited lifespan. A deep cycle battery will typically need to be replaced every 3 to 5 years. This is true even if it is never used.
This is why we offer sump pump maintenance. We can test your pump’s operation. We can clean the basin. We can also test the health of your backup battery. Regular service is the best way to ensure your system is ready for the next big storm. If your pump is over 10 years old, you should proactively replace it.
A sump pump installation is a very complex project. It is not recommended for a typical homeowner. If your home does not have a sump basin, the job requires a jackhammer. You must break a large hole in your concrete foundation floor. You must then dig out a deep pit. This is heavy, difficult work. The basin must be installed perfectly level.
The plumbing is also critical. You must run a rigid PVC discharge pipe. This pipe has to be routed up and out of your home. This involves drilling through your home’s rim joist. The check valve must be installed correctly. The discharge line outside must be sloped away from the home. If it is not, the water will just flow back.
Finally, the electrical component is a safety issue. The pump needs a dedicated GFCI outlet. A battery backup system involves wiring a charger and a battery. An improper installation can fail when you need it. It can also be a safety hazard. This is a job best left to a licensed plumber.
This is a very important part of the installation. The sump pump’s job is to move the water far away from your foundation. The discharge pipe carries the water out of your basement. Local code in Broken Arrow dictates where this water can go. We must run the pipe so it discharges at least 10 feet away from your home. We also must ensure it drains onto your own property.
The water must be discharged onto a downward slope. This allows gravity to carry the water away from your house. If we discharge it on flat ground, the water will just pool. It will then soak back into the soil and go right back to your foundation. This creates an endless loop, and your pump will run forever. We will never discharge the water onto a neighbor’s property.
In most cases, we cannot connect the sump pump to your main sewer line. This is illegal in most cities. This is because it floods the sewer treatment plant with clean groundwater. It can overwhelm the system. The water must be discharged onto the surface or, in some cases, into a storm drain.
A check valve is a small but critical part of your sump pump system. It is a one way valve that we install on the vertical discharge pipe. Your pump pushes water up this pipe and out of your home. When the pump turns off, there is still a column of water left in that pipe. Without a check valve, all that water would fall back down. It would flow back into your basin.
This backflow of water would fill the basin back up. This would immediately trigger the float switch, and the pump would turn on again. It would pump the same water out. Then it would turn off, and the water would fall back in. This is called short cycling. This constant on and off will burn out your pump’s motor in a very short time.
The check valve prevents this. It has a small flapper inside. Water can flow out, but it cannot flow back in. This protects your pump. It also makes the system much quieter. You will not hear that thud of water falling back after the pump shuts off. We use high quality, quiet check valves on all our installations.
You should test your sump pump at least twice a year. The best times are in the early spring, before the heavy rains, and in the fall. Testing is simple. First, make sure the pump is plugged in. Then, take a large, 5 gallon bucket of water. Slowly pour the water into the sump basin. Your goal is to fill the basin.
As the water level rises, it should lift the float switch. When the float reaches its on position, the pump should kick on. You will hear it turn on, and you should see it empty the basin quickly. The pump should shut off automatically once the float drops back down. This confirms your primary pump is working.
You should also test your backup pump. Unplug your primary pump from the wall. This will simulate a power outage. Now, repeat the test. Pour the water into the basin. The water will rise past the primary float. It should then lift the backup pump’s float. The backup pump should turn on. This confirms your backup system is ready.
