Our hot water tank went down this morning and we were at a loss. I called Sargent's plumbing and Andrew Sargent took my call. He had Jeffrey Sargent come to our house in a very short matter of time. Jeffrey installed a new hot water tank and you could tell that he really takes pride in his workmanship. Totally satisfied with the quick response and a job well done. Follow up, I had a slight drain problem from the install but Sargent's plumbing responded immediately and took care of it. Great company, with great service.

We’ve used Sargent’s Plumbing twice and both times they were awesome! The first time was last Christmas Eve afternoon. Our half bath toilet was leaking. They were able to schedule us that day. Hayden arrived on time, assessed the situation, fixed it quickly and didn’t leave a mess. Just recently, the same toilet developed another problem. Called Sargent’s. Jeffrey arrived a little early (not a problem), listened to my concerns and made some adjustments hoping to correct the problem. Unfortunately, it didn’t. He told me it might not; that the toilet should be replaced. Doing that in a couple of days. Quoted a reasonable price for this replacement. He and Andrew have been very patient in answering my questions. Highly recommend!

We have had issues with our sewer backing up into the house for a long time. I was worried when I first called because Sargent’s charges by the hour but wait.. They helped unclog the drain so fast it will make your head spin! Super nice, honest, and much more than fair to say the least. Use Sargent’s once and you won’t let anyone else help with your plumbing. Our issue was a little flap that broke off to keep sewage from back flowing into the home. (Ironic isn’t it that this is exactly what this valve caused several times?!). We couldn’t be happier!

24/7 EMERGENCY Gas Line Repair

A suspected gas leak is one of the most serious emergencies a homeowner can face. If you smell rotten eggs, evacuate the home first and call 911 or your utility company. Sargent’s Plumbing & Drain provides 24/7 emergency gas line repairs to secure the line. Homeowners in Broken Arrow and nearby cities trust our rapid response. We never charge extra weekend or emergency fees for homeowners.

Gas Line Repair in Broken Arrow, OK

Gas line repair is the professional service of identifying and fixing leaks or damage in your home’s gas piping. This system carries natural gas to your furnace, water heater, stove, and other appliances. Due to the combustible nature of natural gas, this repair is not a DIY task. It requires certified technicians who understand all safety codes. Our licensed plumbers are trained to manage these hazardous situations safely. The process involves leak detection, system isolation, and replacing the damaged pipe section. We handle everything from minor fitting leaks to major corrosion issues. Our primary goal is always to restore safety to your home. We ensure every repair is fully tested and compliant.

A gas leak is a critical safety hazard that cannot be ignored. The most obvious danger is the risk of fire or explosion. A small spark from a light switch or appliance can ignite an accumulation of gas. Natural gas also displaces oxygen, which can lead to asphyxiation. Furthermore, exposure to natural gas can cause symptoms like dizziness, nausea, and headaches. This is why utility companies add a strong rotten egg smell to the gas. If you notice this smell, you must evacuate everyone from the building immediately. Do not use any electronics or phones inside the home. Call 911 or your gas utility from a safe distance.

Our process for gas line repair is systematic and prioritizes safety. When we arrive, our first step is to verify the gas is shut off at the meter. We then use professional electronic gas detectors to confirm the presence and location of the leak. Our tools are highly sensitive and can find leaks far faster than an old fashioned soap bubble test. Once the leak is pinpointed, we isolate that section of the piping. Our plumber will then remove the damaged pipe or fitting. We replace it with new, high quality, code approved materials. Every new connection is sealed and tightened to precise specifications. We always clean our work area.

The repair is not complete until we perform a thorough pressure test. This is a non negotiable step that guarantees the safety of our work. We cap the repaired section and pressurize the line with compressed air. A special gauge is attached to the system to monitor this pressure. We let the system sit for a code required amount of time. If the gauge needle does not move at all, it proves the line is 100% airtight. Even a tiny, microscopic leak would register as a pressure drop. We will not restore gas service to your home until the line passes this test. This is our commitment to your family’s safety.

Gas lines are durable but can fail over time. The most common cause of leaks is corrosion on older black iron pipes. This is especially true for pipes in moist environments like basements or underground. Fittings and joints are also common failure points. The pipe sealant can degrade over decades, allowing small leaks to form. Improper installation by a previous, unlicensed contractor is another major cause. We often find poorly sealed threads or the wrong materials used. Finally, physical damage can occur from shifting foundations or accidental drilling during a renovation. Our team can diagnose any of these issues.

When we inspect your gas line, we provide an honest assessment. If the leak is isolated to one fitting or a small section, a spot repair is the best solution. We will cut out the bad section and replace it. However, if we find widespread corrosion or damage, repiping may be necessary. This involves replacing the entire gas line or a major portion of it. While this is a larger project, it is the only safe solution for a failing system. We provide straightforward quotes for both options. Our locally owned business is built on honesty, not upsells. We help you make the best, safest decision.

Choosing us for your gas line repair means choosing a licensed, insured, and dedicated team. We are deeply committed to the safety of the Broken Arrow community. Our plumbers are certified for gas work and follow all codes meticulously. We back our repairs with long term warranties. As a family owned business, we understand the importance of trust. We offer 10% discounts for veterans, seniors, and teachers. We also never charge extra for emergency or weekend calls to homeowners. Our 5 star service guarantee means we do the job right, safely, the first time.

All Services Offered By Our Plumbers in Broken Arrow, OK

Sargent’s Plumbing & Drain is based in Broken Arrow, located at 605 W Oakland Pl, Broken Arrow, OK 74012, proudly serves customers in the Tulsa metro area. In addition to Gas Line Repair, we offer a full range of plumbing services for homes and businesses. Below is our services list offered by our plumbers:

What Makes a Great Gas Line Repair Service

A great gas line repair service is defined by its speed and safety protocols. The service begins with a clear emergency dispatch process. The plumber arrives quickly, assesses the situation, and shuts off the gas supply first. They use calibrated electronic leak detectors to find the exact source. A great plumber clearly communicates the problem and the repair plan. They work carefully, using only code compliant materials for the fix. The most important step is a mandatory pressure test to confirm the repair is secure. The service concludes with safely restoring gas and checking appliances.

Most Common Gas Line Repair Questions

Gas line issues are a serious matter, and we receive many urgent questions about them. Our clients are rightfully concerned about safety, signs of leaks, and the repair process. Here are the most common questions we answer for Broken Arrow homeowners.

If you smell gas, often described as a rotten egg or sulfur smell, you must act immediately. Your first action is to evacuate everyone from the home. Do not waste time trying to find the source. As you leave, do not touch any electronics. Do not turn light switches on or off. Do not use your cell phone or landline inside the home. Any of these actions could create a spark and cause an ignition. Leave the door open behind you to help ventilate the building.

Once you are a safe distance away from the home, such as at a neighbor’s house, call 911 or your gas utility’s emergency number. They will dispatch a team to shut off the gas at the meter and declare the home safe. Do not re enter your home for any reason until the utility company has given you the all clear. This is the most critical step for your safety.

After the gas utility has shut off the gas and secured the area, they will instruct you to call a licensed plumber. This is when you call Sargent’s Plumbing & Drain. We will arrive to perform a full leak detection and repair service. We will find the source of the leak, make the necessary repairs, and perform a pressure test. We will then coordinate with the utility to get your service safely restored.

Yes, absolutely. There is no such thing as a safe gas leak. Even a very small leak can be extremely dangerous. Natural gas is lighter than air and can fill up a room from the ceiling down. If it accumulates in an enclosed space, it creates a highly combustible environment. It only takes one small spark to cause a fire or a powerful explosion. This spark can come from a static shock, a light switch, or an appliance turning on.

Small leaks also pose a health risk. Natural gas displaces oxygen. In a poorly ventilated area, this can lead to symptoms like dizziness, fatigue, nausea, and headaches. If the leak is persistent, it can cause severe health problems or even asphyxiation. This is why the rotten egg smell is added to the gas. It is an immediate warning sign that must be taken seriously every single time.

Do not attempt to ignore a faint gas smell, hoping it will go away. It is an urgent warning sign. A small leak in a fitting can be a symptom of a larger problem, like system wide corrosion. It is critical to call for an emergency response. Our team can find even the smallest leaks. We will ensure your system is perfectly sealed and safe.

We use specialized, professional equipment to find gas leaks. The old method of using soapy water on joints is unreliable and slow. Our primary tool is an electronic combustible gas detector, also known as a gas sniffer. This handheld device has a sensor that can detect even trace amounts of natural gas in the air. Our plumbers use this tool to scan the entire length of your gas piping, including every joint, fitting, and connection.

When the detector gets close to a leak, it will beep or alarm, often faster as the concentration of gas increases. This allows us to pinpoint the exact location of the leak. This is far more accurate than just relying on your nose. A smell can permeate an entire room, making the source hard to find. Our tools lead us directly to the failed fitting or corroded pipe.

For underground leaks, we may use different tools. This can involve isolating sections and using pressure test equipment. We can also use sensors to detect gas in the soil. This precision is key. By finding the exact spot, we can make a targeted repair. This saves you money and time. We replace only the damaged components, not entire sections of pipe based on guesswork.

Yes, it is extremely safe to repair a gas line, but only when the work is done by a qualified and licensed professional. Gas line repair is not a DIY project under any circumstances. The risks of inexpert work are catastrophic. Our plumbers at Sargent’s Plumbing & Drain are certified and extensively trained to work with natural gas. We follow strict safety protocols and all local and national plumbing codes.

The repair process itself is very safe because we shut off the gas supply completely before we begin. We test the air to ensure no gas is present while we work. We then cut out the damaged section and replace it. We use only code approved materials and sealants for all new connections. This ensures the repair is durable and secure.

The most important safety step is the pressure test we perform after the repair. We fill the line with compressed air and use a gauge to ensure it is 100% airtight. We will not restore gas to the line until it passes this test. This verification is your guarantee that the repair is complete and your home is safe. Trusting a professional makes the entire process safe from start to finish.

A sudden and unexplained spike in your gas bill is a major warning sign. Assuming your usage habits have not changed and it is not a billing error, a high bill often points to a leak. A slow, persistent leak in your gas piping means gas is constantly escaping, 24 hours a day. You are paying for gas that you are not even using. This leak might be in a wall, in your attic, or even underground.

This type of leak is especially dangerous because it may not be large enough to create a strong, obvious odor. It could be in a well ventilated area that disperses the smell. However, the leak is still releasing combustible gas and costing you money. Do not ignore a high bill. It is a sign that your system needs to be inspected by a professional.

Our team can perform a comprehensive leak detection service. We will check your entire gas system, from the meter to every appliance. We will use our electronic detectors to find any hidden leaks. If we find one, we can provide a straightforward quote for the repair. Fixing the leak will not only make your home safe, but it will also lower your monthly utility bill.

A gas line pressure test is the industry standard method to guarantee a gas piping system is 100% leak free. It is a mandatory step after any new installation or repair. The test involves completely isolating the gas line from the meter and all appliances. We cap all the ends of the pipe. We then attach a special, highly sensitive pressure gauge to the line.

Once the gauge is attached, we fill the piping system with compressed air. We pressurize the line to a level much higher than the low pressure natural gas it normally carries. Per local code, we let the pressurized line sit for a set period, such as 30 minutes. We watch the needle on the gauge intently. If the needle drops at all, even a tiny bit, it proves there is a leak somewhere in the system.

A line that passes the test shows no drop in pressure whatsoever. This proves that every joint and fitting is perfectly sealed and airtight. This test is the ultimate confirmation of quality workmanship. At Sargent’s Plumbing & Drain, we perform this test on every single gas job. We will not restore gas service until the gauge proves our work is perfect. This is our commitment to safety.

While handheld gas detectors are available at hardware stores, they are not a substitute for a professional service. Consumer grade detectors can be useful as an initial warning system, similar to a smoke detector. They may alert you to the presence of gas. However, they are not designed for pinpointing the exact location of a leak. They often lack the sensitivity and calibration of professional grade equipment.

Our technicians use expensive, calibrated tools that are far more sensitive. Our detectors can find leaks that a consumer model would miss. More importantly, finding the leak is only one part of the job. The repair is the other. A homeowner with a detector is still not qualified to safely shut off the gas, work on the pipes, or perform a repair.

If your store bought detector ever goes off, you must treat it as a real emergency. Evacuate the home and call 911 or your gas utility. Then, call us for the professional repair. Relying on a consumer tool for a small leak check is risky. It can provide a false sense of security. It is always better to have a certified plumber inspect your system.

No, in most cases you do not need to replace the entire gas line for a single leak. The most common leaks occur at threaded fittings or joints. In these situations, our plumber can perform a simple and targeted repair. This involves shutting off the gas, cutting out the single bad fitting, and replacing it. We then pressure test the line to confirm the fix. This is a very common and cost effective solution.

The only time we would recommend a full repipe is if we find systemic problems. If we fix one leak, but our inspection shows that the rest of the piping is heavily corroded, it is a safety issue. This indicates that other leaks are likely to occur soon. In this situation, repairing one joint is just a temporary patch on a failing system.

We are a locally owned business built on honesty and hard work. We will never try to upsell you on a full repiping project you do not need. We will show you our findings, explain the condition of your pipes, and give you straightforward options. We will provide a quote for the simple repair and a quote for a replacement if necessary. We give you the information you need to make the best, safest choice.
